Massachusetts holds top spot in teen driver safety rankings

A recent study looked at how the different states compare to each other when it comes to teen driver safety. In ranking the states on overall teen driver safety, the study focused on five different things: teen drunk driving rate, teen texting/emailing while driving rate, teen driver fatality rate, how effective of a graduated driver's license program the state has and annual teen auto insurance cost.

How safe is Massachusetts for teen drivers? According to the recent study, it is safer than any other state in the country. The study gave Massachusetts the No. 1 ranking for safety for teen drivers.

Categories Massachusetts did particularly well in in the study include teen texting/emailing while driving rate, teen drunk driving rate and teen driver fatality rate. When it came to teen driver fatality rate, Massachusetts' rate was considerably below the national average and was lower than the rate of any other state.

While Massachusetts' showing in this study is very encouraging, it is important to note that there are still plenty of teen driver accidents that occur in the state and plenty that could be done to make Massachusetts even safer for teen drivers. Many different parties can play a big role in how safe the state's roads are for teen drivers, including teen drivers themselves, their parents, drivers generally, law enforcement and policymakers/lawmakers.

One hopes all these parties will work hard to help Massachusetts keep its top spot and to improve teen driver safety in the state even further.

When teen drivers are involved in auto accidents, they can suffer life-altering injuries. Skilled attorneys can help parents of injured teen drivers with determining what legal rights, including rights related to compensation, their teen may have in relation to the accident and the injuries they suffered in it.
